Well...I am a slacker. But I'm back! With big news: Jacob and I have moved back to Utah! I'm not really going to go into the story behind that. Suffice it to say that Jacob is almost done with his Master's, and the jobs he is most interested in are all in Utah. We are hoping and praying for something to work out soon.
We moved at the end of January, but were able to sneak in some last minute adventures before packing up and bidding adieu to Texas.
Probably my favorite: the Japanese Tea Gardens. I had visited this place several months before and meant to take Jacob but never did. Finally, we squeezed it in at the last minute. I wish it hadn't been in the dead of winter and it hadn't been a cloudy day - the gardens can be much prettier. But if you're ever in San Antonio, I recommend it. It's free!
We also made it to Houston to visit one of Jacob's former roommates. I actually squealed with delight when we passed these creatures on the side of the road (it was pretty embarrassing):
Our host suggested we visit a state park that was known for having alligators everywhere - like, within six feet of the trail. I asked if we were going to die. The possibility didn't seem to bother anyone else, so I put on my "Oh, yes, I go looking for alligators every day" face, and we left. Luckily, all the alligators we saw were pretty far away. Thank heavens for winter and cold blooded creatures.
I also love this turtle out doing his daily yoga.
And, I got some good scenery shots, which is pretty much my favorite thing to do anyway, so it all worked out.
Here's the thing about adventures, though: I'm done with them. I tired and feel old. I don't want to move anymore. I told my dad before we left San Antonio that I wanted to find a house and never move ever again. His response: "Well, but then you'd miss out on life's adventures!" I think my jaw hit the ground. Adventures? Who cares?
I can't believe I am saying this (ME, of all people!), but I am ready to be settled and quiet and bored. I guess I'm finally giving up my swashbuckling ways. I'm ready for a house and a big yard and a treehouse. I already have the colors picked out that I'll paint the different rooms. Just please, please, let things quiet down and stabilize, and let me stay in one place for the rest of my life. Is that asking too much? Don't answer that.
